This event will be an opportunity to raise awareness about Child Hunger and an opportunity to connect with representatives from the TC Anti-Hunger Task Force to learn more.
Child Hunger affects many children and families in our community. 21% of Tioga County students suffer from food insecurity, which means they h ave limited access to adequate food. 4,000 children in Tioga County receive free or reduced meal plans at school, but when children are not in school, such as in the summer months, their access to regular and nutritious meals is often uncertain. The Anti-Hunger Task Force addresses this gap in food availability for children by offering programs to reach kids in need, such as the Summer Food Service Program where they hand out backpacks with food at sites throughout the county. They are also inspiring a conversation among organizations and residents about the reality of Child Hunger in our community and the urgency of need. The Run 2 Feed 5K Run/Walk will address both of these initiatives by raising money and awareness.
Run 2 Feed will be a fun community event as well as a fundraiser. Participants will enjoy a Dog Parade, a Kids' Run, a 5K, food and beverages (free food and water will be provided to race participants), a DJ, and more!
Dog Parade: Begins at noon. Entry fee: $5 or a bag of dried dog food
Kids' Run: Begins at 1:00 PM. Entry fee: $10
5K: Begins at 2:00 PM. Entry fee: $25
